Curriculum Overview
Our methodology in this pilot was to evaluate our current curriculum/TEKS and see where the iPODs could be integrated as the tool for learning. Below you will see the specific TEKs that are supported with the iPOD technology with accompanying activities. Any form of technology use is an effective tool for engaging the our present day learners plus preparing them to be effective in the real world.
Language and Content Objectives:
Listening TEK:
Listening/speaking/purposes: The student listens actively and purposefully in a variety of settings.
Listening/speaking/critical listening: The student listens critically to analyze and evaluate a speaker's message(s).
Listening/speaking/appreciation: The student listens to enjoy and appreciate spoken language.
Activities: Cloze, Listening for Comprehension, Listen and Summarize
Speaking TEK:
Listening/speaking/audiences: The student speaks clearly and appropriately to different audiences for different purposes and occasions.
Reading Fluency TEK:
Reading/fluency: The student reads with fluency and understanding in texts at appropriate difficulty levels.
Reading/variety of texts: The student reads widely for different purposes in varied sources.
Activities: *Any level reading book you have can be made into an audio file to upload into your mp3 player (have better readers as a project record lower level readers)
Vocabulary TEK:
Reading/vocabulary development:The student acquires an extensive vocabulary through reading and systematic word study.
Writing TEK:
Writing/evaluation: The student evaluates his/her own writing and the writings of others.
